This forum will discuss the use of mobile devices regarding patient care in various environments - hospitals, clinics, and digitally. We equip our students, residents, and faculty with these devices to use in the clinical setting to increase patient safety eg drug dosages, lab values etc. and the overall quality of care
Practitioners and patients alike support the concept of an integrated electronic health record, yet the technical and political barriers that must be overcome only appear to get larger. What are the initial steps that we must overcome in order to have our health record be securely available to all of our health care providers?
Two of the most significant barriers to improved pedagogy are 1) tradition is often the motivating factor for how content is delivered (we teach the way we were taught) and 2) time constraints limit our ability to design and implement better methods for engaging students. This forum will be used to discuss teaching methods that move beyond the lecture hall and how the educational effectiveness of these approaches can be quantitatively assessed.
The amount of scientific information has gone up by an order of magnitude in the last several years and as faculty, the temptation to deliver as much of that information to our students is hard to resist. The purpose of this forum is to discuss way that content can be eliminated from the curriculum while better preparing our students for life-long learning.
